Role details

The Mackay Sexual Health Service at the Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Senior Medical Officer to join their team on a Permanent Part-Time basis (8 hrs p.f.).

Your opportunity

  • To provide general practice, reproductive health and related specialist medical services to clients presenting to the Sexual Health Service dealing with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B and C and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), gender-diverse individuals and sexual dysfunction in the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
  • Provide services at an advanced level of service delivery and program management that focuses on the prevention, early detection and management of health problems. To work as a member of a specialist multidisciplinary team in partnership with community-based organisations and other government departments.
  • Other areas of responsibility include quality improvement and mentoring to interns, nursing and medical students, health workers and participation in research activities conducted within the Unit.

The Mackay Sexual Health Service is a multi-disciplinary service operating on a framework of comprehensive primary health care and collaborative chronic disease care.  The clinic activities encompass providing health promotion, disease prevention and treatment.  Equity of access to appropriate and affordable services along with client advocacy, education and community development is also provided.
