We're excited to welcome a Registered Nurse (RN) to our Acute & Restorative Care of the Elderly (ARC) unit.

The RN leads and delivers person centred nursing care within a dynamic health environment based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.

The Acute and Restorative Care (ARC) unit is a specialise sub-acute 42 bed Unit at Nambour General Hospital which is part of Sunshine Coast Health (SCS) Medical Services Group (MSG). 

The ARC unit provides:

  • Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) care in which the primary clinical purpose or treatment goal is improvement in the functioning of a patient with multi-dimensional needs associated with medical conditions related to ageing, such as tendency to fall, incontinence, reduced mobility and cognitive impairment. The patient may also have complex psychosocial problems.
  • Rehabilitation Care in which the primary clinical purpose or treatment goal is improvement in the functioning of a patient with an impairment, activity limitation or participation restriction due to a health condition where the patient is capable of actively participating.
  • Geriatric specialist care for assessment and management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, delirium and/ or cognitive impairment undiagnosed. We endeavour to ensure that the intent of the care of the confused older person is focused on creating safe, supportive environment for patients and staff through embedding evidence based cognitive care principles.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 5 and the Queensland Public Service values.
  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.

Salary between $87 368 - $112 064 p.a. or $3348.80- $4295.40 p.f. (f/t) or salary rates: $44.06 - $56.51p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 5) (Permanent Part-Time and Multiple Fixed Term Temporary Part-Time and/or Full-Time multiple positions available, hours negotiable.).
