About us:
Our staff are a part of the community we serve, and we strongly believe that health outcomes are enhanced by involving our community in the planning and evaluation of local health services. The hospital serves a population of over 8000 people and is 1.5 hours' drive from Cairns. The Innisfail region is renowned for spectacular waterfalls, fishing, Mission Beach, the Family Islands, and World Heritage rainforest.
The role provides after‑hours administrative support and is currently rostered Monday to Friday between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday - day and evening shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Future rostering may see this role extended to include night duty from 11pm to 7.30am (approx..), Monday to Sunday. Successful applicants will be required to fulfill all shift patterns required of the role, including night duty.
About your role:
- Deliver a customer focused service that respects the rights and dignity of others, the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with patients, carers, staff, and members of the public, whilst always executing ethical decision-making in the achievement of departmental and organisational objectives.
- Register or update all patients attending the Emergency Department ensuring all collected patient demographic information for updating medical records is compliant with documentation standards and record accurately into the hospital based corporate information system (HBCIS).
- Conduct patient interviews to obtain correct details for completion of admissions to wards and verify or complete Patient Election Form (PEF) to ensure accurate capture of funding source. Provide fully informed financial advice to all patients on admission.
