About your opportunity

Join a dynamic and highly skilled Operating Theatre team at Townsville University Hospital, home to 15 state of the art operating theatres including a new Hybrid Theatre. Our service delivers Level 5 and Level 6 care across a wide range of surgical specialties, offering nurses the chance to work in a complex and rewarding clinical environment.

You will gain exposure to an extensive mix of specialties including cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, thoracic, ear nose and throat, plastic and reconstructive surgery, maxillofacial and oral surgery, urology, orthopaedics, trauma, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, ophthalmology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, transplant donor procedures, kidney transplants and advanced imaging procedures within the Hybrid Theatre.

Our instrument and circulatory nurses work across both elective and emergency theatres to maintain competency in all specialties. Emergency theatre nurses work a continuous shift roster that includes night shift, ensuring twenty four hour coverage for urgent and trauma cases.

The successful candidate will be an experienced instrument and circulatory nurse with current operating theatre experience and demonstrated competency in emergency and trauma procedures.

A combination of ten, nine, eight and six hour shifts are rostered to ensure safe coverage across all theatre lists. Participation in the on call roster is required for staff who have achieved the necessary competency.
