About the role

As a Senior Social Worker within the Mental Health Inpatient Unit at The Prince Charles Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in supporting adults and older persons experiencing acute and complex mental health presentations. This position sits at the interface of advanced clinical practice, leadership, and service development, requiring strong professional judgement and a commitment to recovery-oriented care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Apply high level knowledge, skills and independent judgement in the assessment and management of adult and psychogeriatric consumers with complex needs who are inpatients of The Prince Charles Hospital Mental Health Unit and their families/carers, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers Professional Practice Standards and Code of Ethics.
  • Apply high level advocacy within the healthcare system including facilitating linkages with key agencies to address client need and ensure equity in access to services.
  • Provide clinical leadership and participate in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality and service improvement activities and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of Social Work services to improve consumer care and enhance the delivery of work unit and profession specific clinical services.
  • Provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced Social Workers and participate in the education and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work students to ensure maintenance of professional clinical standards within the service.
