About us:

The Women and Newborn Unit is composed of Maternity and Gynaecology inpatient services, Midwifery Group Practice (MGP), Extended Midwifery Services (EMS), and a Neonatal Nursery. The unit is women and family centred care, reflecting the needs of each woman within a safe and sustainable quality system. All women have access to evidenced based, culturally competent maternity care in a range of settings close to where they live. Appropriately trained and qualified health professionals provide maternity care to women of Gladstone and surrounds

About the role:

The Registered Midwife (Caseload) provides woman centred, evidence-based care within the MGP model, supporting the principles of continuity of carer. The position delivers primary midwifery care across the full scope of practice while collaborating with medical and allied health professionals as required to ensure safe, high quality and culturally responsive care. 

The Registered Midwife (Caseload) is a responsible and an accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the registered midwifes' own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant. Demonstrates evidence of increasing autonomy and exercises greater levels of professional judgement in the clinical environment as the Registered Midwife moves from a beginning to experienced practitioner.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory for this position.
  • Provide comprehensive, safe and effective evidence-based midwifery care in consultation and partnership with the woman, the multidisciplinary health care team and external agencies to achieve identified health outcomes.
  • Demonstrate high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients and general public.
  • Ability to work as a team member within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the goals of the unit and contribute the overall service development and planning.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $170,575 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $59.49 - $76.30 p.h. (includes 35% caseload allowance)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
