What your day could look like
As a Diversional Therapist, you'll play a vital role in enhancing quality of life for residents by nurturing physical, emotional and social wellbeing. From creating moments of joy and purpose to connecting people with their community, you'll work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver care that values the whole person.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Designing and delivering engaging lifestyle programs that support independence, identity and wellbeing
- Building strong relationships with residents, families, colleagues and community partners
- Adapting activities to changing needs, ensuring inclusion, safety and meaningful participation
- Bringing fresh ideas that foster connection, purpose and a sense of belonging
Let's Talk About You
You're someone who leads with empathy and creativity, and who understands how powerful meaningful moments can be. You take pride in helping people stay connected to what matters to them, even as needs change. Thoughtful, organised and adaptable, you balance initiative with teamwork and bring compassion, integrity and courage into everything you do. You'll feel proud knowing your work directly improves daily life for others and strengthens a regional community that values care, dignity and connection.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- A recognised qualification in diversional therapy or lifestyle and leisure
- Experience designing or delivering person‑centred activity programs, ideally in aged care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage people with diverse needs
- Confidence working independently while collaborating closely with clinical teams
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in rural or regional settings and/or have supported volunteers or students in care environments.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is passionate about enriching lives, committed to inclusive care, and ready to grow with a health service guided by compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage.
