About us:
Welcome to Theodore Multipurpose Health Service! Your next workplace adventure, just a scenic 229km southwest of Rockhampton. Nestled along the Leichhardt Highway between Castle Creek and the Dawson River, this is small-town charm with big impact energy.
As part of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, the goal is simple: healthier Central Queenslanders, powered by a team that lives its values. These aren't just words on a wall, they're the secret sauce behind how people show up, work together and get things done every day.
Think of it as a place where your work matters, your team has your back, and your contribution helps the whole community thrive.
About the role:
This is your chance to run a smooth, well-seasoned kitchen at Theodore Multipurpose Health Service. You'll be creating nutritious, high-quality meals that make a difference to patients every day.
You'll deliver a food service that meets all Food Safety Act requirements while whipping up menus tailored to a range of dietary needs. Work closely with Allied Health professionals like speech pathologists and dietitians to make sure every meal is spot on. Your days will be fast paced but satisfying, as you keep everything on schedule, maintain top hygiene and quality standards, and ensure every plate leaving the kitchen is just right.
You'll also step into a leadership role by supervising support staff, managing stock orders and helping with rosters. On top of that, you'll contribute ideas to improve how the kitchen runs, because fresh thinking is always on the menu. You'll need to be confident working independently, but also ready to blend into a team where communication is key.
About you:
- Food Safety Certificate – not mandatory but definitely a bonus!
- You know your way around a kitchen, especially in a hospital or similar setting and can handle the heat.
- You understand food service inside and out, from equipment and recipes to dietary needs, policies, and safety programs.
- You're not afraid to spice things up by suggesting and implementing improvements to how things are done.
- You've got people skills and can communicate with everyone from patients to professionals with care and respect.
- You're a team player who can also fly solo when needed and you adapt quickly.
- You're always looking to improve and keen to keep raising the bar.
