About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Services include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cancer Services, Cardiology, Renal, Palliative Care, Mental Health, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Oral Health, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthesia.

There are a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. The Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services.

About the role:

The Clinical Director of Medicine Rockhampton is a key leadership role driving high-quality care and service delivery across Central Queensland Health. You'll lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, oversee education and supervision of trainees and staff, and champion excellence in clinical outcomes, research, and development.

This role is all about impact - shaping safe, effective, and accessible services, leading quality and safety improvements, and guiding strategic direction across multiple sites. You'll promote a strong culture of health, safety, learning, and innovation while ensuring services meet community needs.

With a blend of leadership and hands-on clinical work (minimum 0.5 FTE), this is a unique opportunity to influence system-wide outcomes while staying connected to patient care. Appointed for an initial three-year term, this role offers both stability and the chance to make a lasting difference.

About you:

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). This will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
    • Candidates with an additional sub-specialty or interest in a sub-specialty are encouraged to apply.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $579,401 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $259,072 - $274,678 p.a. (L25–L27)
  • A salary rate between $216,643 - $251,642 p.a. (L18-L24)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
