About us:
The Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) provides high quality and safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the immediate post-surgical phase of their perioperative journey.
The Perioperative Department comprises of 12 Operating Theatres and 16 PACU bays.
The department supports the following Surgical Services for both adults and paediatric cases of varying complexity; Orthopaedics, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General, Vascular, ENT, FascioMaxilliary, Emergency, Trauma, Ophthalmology, Plastics and Reconstruction.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high-level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.

About your role:
- Work collaboratively, with manager/s and educator, to plan, implement and evaluate clinical learning opportunities at a workplace level to support clinicians to provide evidence-based practice.
- Collaborates with manager/s and educator/s to lead quality and research activities; for example, conducting and evaluating audits to devise learning plans to address outcomes.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills specific to work area and role models advanced person-focused evidence-based care.
- Ability to positively influence and lead professional and clinical practice, clinical learning support of professional standards, and escalating concerns.
