The purpose of this role is to provide high-level scientific leadership in genomics, delivering expert analysis, advice and reporting on microbial genomics to support public health surveillance, outbreak investigations and statewide diagnostic services.
What you'll do
In this role you will lead and manage a multidisciplinary genomics team, oversee complex genomic analysis and reporting for bacterial and viral pathogens, provide expert advice to stakeholders, support outbreak investigations and surveillance activities, drive the development of new technologies and methodologies, contribute to research and innovation, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Holds a degree in science, public health or related discipline
- Has extensive experience in genomics, bioinformatics or epidemiology
- Has experience leading teams in complex scientific environments
- Can analyse and interpret complex genomic and epidemiological data
- Has strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Has experience in public health, microbiology or surveillance systems (desirable)
