About us:

The Medical Workforce Support Unit (MWSU) provides advice and assistance to the Executive Director of Medical Services and Directors of Medical Services in relation to medical officer employment for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.

The MWSU has a Health Service wide operational responsibility for medical workforce recruitment and onboarding with the focus on designing, delivering and supporting a sustainable medical workforce model for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.

The unit works closely with the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Medical Education Unit to ensure that there is alignment between educational needs of the medical workforce and recruitment and service provision.

About the role:

  • Provide specialist advice and support for all contemporary medical workforce matters including recruitment and selection, mandatory pre-employment and terms and conditions of employment, credentialing and scope of clinical practice.
  • Provide leadership and management of the Medical Workforce Support Unit to deliver a quality and client-focused service to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure medical officer recruitment, appointments and ongoing employment including scope of clinical practice complies with mandatory legislative, policy, and procedural requirements across CQHHS.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, awards, certified agreements, policies, and credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice requirements, including oversight of audits and quality assurance activities.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding for senior and junior medical officers, meeting defined timeframes and mandatory compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and manage locum utilisation and expenditure, ensuring compliance, budget adherence, and implementation of targeted reduction strategies.
  • Provide accurate, timely workforce reporting and advice to the Executive, including vacancies, recruitment performance, locum usage, and compliance risks.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of medical workforce management, including relevant legislation, industrial instruments, policies, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage teams within a large, complex health service environment.
  • Apply practical, proactive problem-solving skills to address complex workforce issues.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $171,568 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $70.66 - $75.83 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
