Join the Education and Research Unit in Gladstone as a part-time temporary Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), where you’ll contribute to education, professional development and best practice care across the service.

You’ll hold a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) with current registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse through AHPRA, and be credentialed as a SANE with demonstrated recent practice. Working within a supportive, multidisciplinary team led by the Nursing Director of Education and Research, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care while supporting clinical excellence across the Gladstone region.

About us:

The Education and Research Unit supports nursing and midwifery staff through education, professional practice development and clinical practice improvement initiatives—helping drive best practice across the health service.

Led by the Nursing Director of Education and Research, the team includes Nurse Educators, Midwifery Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultants, a Clinical Placement Coordinator, Clinical Facilitators, Student Facilitators, a Transfusion Nurse and Librarians. Nurse Educators across Gladstone, Emerald, Aged Care and Mental Health also maintain strong professional links with the Unit, ensuring a connected and consistent approach to learning and development.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) plays a key role in delivering timely, efficient and trauma-informed care to victim-survivors of sexual assault. Working within the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) model and the Queensland Health Sexual Assault Services Framework, this role supports a sustainable, high-quality response across the Gladstone Business Unit.

You will provide specialised forensic and sexual assault nursing care to individuals who disclose sexual assault, ensuring care is safe, compassionate and person-centred. In partnership with the SANE Coordinator, you will help plan, manage and deliver services for the local community.

About you:

  • The successful applicant must possess a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual nursing practicing certificate Division one.
  • It is a requirement of this position to be credentialed as a SANE and demonstrated recency of practice is a mandatory for this position.
  • While not mandatory, a relevant postgraduate diploma or master's degree will be highly regarded.

 What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $69,347 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $70.58 - $76.63 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
