The Senior Project Officer role sits within Prevention Strategy Branch. The Prevention Strategy Branch provides expertise, leadership, and innovation to improve policy, systems, research, programs, and services to encourage healthy behaviours and create environments that help to reduce chronic disease burden and support the improved health and wellbeing of the whole population.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will work within Queensland Women and Girls Health Promotion Program, to provide high-level project and operational support across a health promotion and prevention-focused programs at Townsville's Cleveland Youth Detention Centre. This role has a particular focus on mental health promotion and young women and girls. You will be required to work with limited supervision, supporting the progression of multiple project activities, managing competing priorities, and ensuring milestones, reporting and governance requirements are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide high-level project and operational support across a program of health promotion work, coordinating activities, timelines, deliverables and dependencies to support effective implementation of health promotion initiatives.
- Identify, monitor and support the management of operational and project risks, issues and interdependencies, escalating matters as required and contributing to mitigation strategies.
- Support continuous improvement by contributing to program evaluation, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve tools, strengthen coordination and enhance the efficiency and quality of project and operational delivery.
- Prepare and contribute to high-quality reports, briefing notes, submissions, correspondence and other documentation to support decision-making, governance and executive oversight.
Role fit:
The role requires strong collaboration and relationship-building with stakeholders across Cleveland Youth Detention Centre and partner organisations to support consistent, timely and high-quality delivery. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their experience and ability in working alongside First Nations communities, and may be requested to provide a current reference from a recognised member of the Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander local community (see: how to apply on the attached role description).
