About us:
We provide a range of free dental services to eligible people living in Central Queensland. We provide services for adults in community dental clinics and children in mobile dental vans or school clinics.
About the role:
- Assist in the provision of general practitioner services within the delivery system for oral health care to eligible clients through Health Service Facilities; it may involve traveling to several other facilities located across the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and may incur overnight stays.
- Preparation of equipment, instruments and materials utilised in a variety of dental procedures including knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure and the ability to pre-plan and adapt as treatment proceeds.
- Accurate and proficient assistance and adaptation to an operator where required to provide four-handed dentistry, retraction and evacuation techniques and application of rubber dam.
- Monitor and assist operator in the management of patient well-being and anxiety level, with an awareness of medical conditions.
- Assist in support duties such as maintenance of instruments and equipment, with the ability to identify and fix minor equipment problems and refer to the appropriate repair departments/person with accurate fault description.
- Use of dental specific language and terminology, and dental charting. Understand the use of radiography and study models as diagnostic tools.
- Provide general advice about personal oral hygiene and re-iterate pre-and post- operative advice provided by operator.
About you:
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting and a paid blue card are mandatory.
- Certificate III Sterilising would be well regarded.
- Demonstrated high level of skill and knowledge in all aspects of dental assisting, including infection control, and clinical support for all relevant age groups.
- Demonstrated high level ability to prioritise and organise work load and where appropriate to use initiative.
- Knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge in the Information System for Oral Health (ISOH) and to utilise the system in capturing patient information and scheduling appointments.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and consult with all level of staff and patients, to manage conflict and to deal with sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $82,130 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $34.53 - $36.30 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
