The role
We are seeking a highly logical, detail-oriented thinker who can work through ambiguity, ask the right questions, and confidently validate and sense-check outputs.
The Senior Finance and Operational Support Officer provides specialist advice and reporting in relation to financial and budgetary management, and embed and maintain appropriate policies, procedures, guidelines and systems to facilitate Queensland Health's effective budgetary and financial management.
This is not a passive reporting role. The position will proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities within financial data, using strong Excel and modelling capability to turn information into actionable insight.
You will take ownership of data integrity in ensuring accuracy across general ledger, cost allocations, and inputs while working with stakeholders to gather, challenge, and refine data to support forecasting, pricing, and planning in a semi-commercial environment. This role goes beyond maintaining financial processes as you will help shape and uplift management reporting and financial insights.
Key responsibilities:
- To be the team officer for financial advice and analysis, delivering high quality, best practice advice in the semi-commercial environment
- Assist eHealth Queensland management with forecasting, cost controls and effective management reporting against budget
- Assist with development of financial models including options analysis, cost and pricing analysis, risks analysis, and scenario analysis
- Contribute to continuous improvement by assisting with reviewing and developing financial and budgetary management protocols, procedures and reporting mechanisms, ensuring their successful implementation through consultation and assurance
- Develop and use information management tools to analyse and report on expense and revenue data, and deliver in a timely manner for decision-making
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional advice to the Director and other stakeholders in the areas of financial and budgetary management within a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining financial records and reporting for a large scale, complex service, preferably in the digital/ICT sector
- Demonstrated expertise in the use and development of contemporary financial management and budgetary information technology, together with experience in the discovery, review, interpretation, and analysis of information.
- Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with expertise or ability to acquire expertise in the development and delivery of formal and informal training programs.
