About us:
The Transit Lounge at Gladstone Hospital is where the magic of patient flow happens. It's a calm, supportive space for clinically stable patients as they get ready to head home or move on to the next stage of their care. Think of it as the hospital's smooth transition hub; helping free up beds, reduce wait times, and make sure everyone is exactly where they need to be, right when they need to be there.
Patients might be wrapping up treatments, waiting for transport, or finalising discharge plans, and your role helps make that experience comfortable, safe, and stress-free. The Transit Lounge works across all adult specialties, so you'll be part of something that keeps the entire hospital running efficiently.
It's fast-paced, people-focused, and genuinely rewarding. Perfect if you like being where things are happening and making a difference in real time.
About the role:
You'll be right at the heart of the Transit Lounge, using your clinical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong coordination abilities to manage patients with a wide range of needs. Work closely with an Enrolled Nurse to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-focused care that meets the highest professional standards.
You'll bring your clinical knowledge and confident decision-making to guide care in line with best practice, ethical guidelines, and contemporary nursing standards. Every shift is about making sure patients get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
You'll also play a key role in supporting the wider team by helping create a positive, learning-focused environment. That means sharing knowledge, supporting education and training, and contributing to a culture that embraces growth, communication, and continuous improvement. Strong communication and documentation skills will help you thrive as you work with individuals, teams, and the broader interdisciplinary group. You'll stay engaged in your own professional development while also helping others grow along the way.
Most importantly, you'll be a strong advocate for patients and their families, ensuring care is safe, appropriate, and delivered with compassion every step of the journey.
About you:
- You're a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and an active practising certificate, ready to step straight into the action.
- Presenting a relevant post graduate qualification would be highly desirable.
- You're confident working independently and thrive as part of a fast-moving, supportive team.
- You lead with integrity, stay calm under pressure, and genuinely care about delivering high-quality patient care every time.
- You're sharp when it comes to clinical problem-solving and can coordinate patient care at an advanced level without breaking a sweat.
- You can plan and deliver education sessions that are clear, practical, and actually useful.
- You've got solid communication skills and know how to work with everyone; from patients and families to multidisciplinary teams.
