About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.
Rural and Remote Services comprise seven health service facilities ranging in Clinical Service Capability (CSCF) levels 2-3. These facilities are located across the Cassowary and Hinterland Hubs, Herberton and Yarrabah. The Director of Nursing and Facility Manager (DON/FM) is responsible for the human and financial integrity within the facility, across all employment streams excluding medical.
The DON/FM Herberton manages Herberton Hospital, Ravenshoeand Mt Garnet Primary Health Centres and Ethridge Community mobile service.

About your role:
- Accountability for the nursing, operational and administrative budgets of the facility.
- Ensure delivery of compassionate, high-quality care, and nursing supervision to ensure KPIs are met in line with policy and legislative requirements.
- Participate in budget development for the services within the portfolio.
- Lead and coordinate quality improvement initiatives, recognising the broad responsibility for safety and quality in healthcare, and actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities in alignment with professional competency standards for nursing.
