Reporting to the Supervising Scientist, Microbiology, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, collaborative and highly respected laboratory environment.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to accurately receive, label, and process clinical specimens for microbiological culture in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Practical skills in performing basic microbiological tasks such as Gram staining, reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance, following safety and quality requirements.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes, including participation in daily quality control checks, and adherence to biosafety and infection control procedures in a PC2 laboratory environment.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with scientists and other laboratory staff, ensuring prompt processing of priority specimens and efficient coordination within the laboratory team.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and consistency, maintain detailed records, and meet turnaround times in a high throughput diagnostic laboratory setting.
