What your day could look like
As a Security Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting safe, compassionate care across our hospitals and grounds. From visible reassurance to calm response in complex situations, you'll work alongside clinical and operational teams to ensure people feel protected and respected while accessing health services.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Creating a safe, welcoming environment through proactive patrols, monitoring and presence
- Responding confidently to incidents, using de‑escalation and sound judgement to protect people and property
- Supporting staff, patients and visitors with timely assistance during routine activities and emergencies
- Identifying risks and contributing ideas that improve safety, preparedness and security outcomes
Your work helps enable care to continue smoothly, safely and with dignity.
Let's Talk About You
You're someone who brings calm, confidence and compassion into every interaction. You know how to read a situation quickly, respond with integrity, and treat everyone with dignity—especially during high‑pressure moments. You'll take pride in being the steady presence people rely on, helping protect patients, colleagues and the wider community through professionalism, courage and care. You're here to make a positive impact, not just keep watch.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- A current C‑class driver licence and ability to work rotating shifts across a 24/7 roster
- Experience using conflict management, de‑escalation and situational awareness in varied environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with diverse people
- A safety‑first mindset aligned with compassion, integrity and accountability
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have:
- A qualification or training in security or protective services
- Experience working in healthcare, community or complex public settings
Most importantly, you're passionate about keeping people safe while upholding respect, dignity and professionalism—living our values of Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage every day. This role is about protecting what matters most, together.
