What your day could look like
As a Clinical Nurse – Mental Health – Hospital in the Home, you'll play a vital role in supporting people to receive safe, therapeutic mental health care in their own environment. From reducing acute hospital admissions to strengthening recovery in the community, you'll work collaboratively to make care more personal, flexible and impactful.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Delivering person-centred, evidence-based mental health care in home and community settings
- Partnering with consumers, families and multidisciplinary teams to support recovery goals
- Using clinical judgement to assess risk, respond to changing needs, and prevent escalation
- Contributing to care planning, service improvement and continuity across the health system
Let's talk about you!
You're a clinically confident mental health nurse who values connection as much as capability. You bring compassion into every interaction, act with integrity when decisions matter, and treat people with dignity at every stage of care. You'll feel proud knowing your work helps people stay well at home, avoid unnecessary hospital stays, and regain control of their lives. You're not just here to provide care – you're here to make a meaningful difference within a community that truly values what you do.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with mental health experience
- Demonstrated skill in contemporary mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions
- Strong communication, autonomy and the ability to work confidently in community settings
- A collaborative, adaptable mindset aligned with safe, recovery-focused care
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in acute or community mental health services and/or postgraduate study in mental health nursing.
Above all, you'll bring the Darling Downs Health values of Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage to everything you do, helping deliver care that genuinely changes lives.
Making recovery possible at home, through care that reflects what Darling Downs Health stands for.
