The role of the Principal Project Officer is to undertake a range of projects and project management tasks related to the evidence-based investment in health services aimed at improving the health of First Nations Queenslanders. The role leads, consults, develops, implements and monitors internal quality frameworks and governance processes such as planning (including health needs analysis and assessment), reporting and continuous improvement to support the Engagement and Monitoring units key deliverables.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and deliver business priorities within specified timeframes, optimising allocated resources to ensure efficient project outcomes; including effectively managing programs, projects and tasks, aligning with team goals and incorporating feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Develop effective and productive working relationships with the 16 HHSs and the non-government sector about the planning, purchase, delivery and performance of health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Undertake policy research, planning, needs assessment and analysis to identify and advise on future strategic policy challenges, opportunities, priorities and issues including whole-of-agency and inter-agency policy priorities.

Role fit:

Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting First Nations people and subsequent health impacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively, and to work respectfully with First Nations people and organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and deliver on projects outcomes, designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating change in business processes and operations, and manage competing priorities to meet agreed deadlines.
