About us:

Welcome to Emerald Hospital and Child and Family Health, where rural healthcare is personal, rewarding, and truly makes a difference. Located 300km west of the Queensland coastline, Emerald Hospital is the heart of healthcare for the Central Highlands, supporting a vibrant community of around 28,000 people across Emerald, Blackwater and Springsure. As a busy 36-bed facility with two operating theatres and a dedicated team of around 160 staff, we deliver a wide range of services across acute, community and primary care - including welcoming 300 to 400 babies into the world every year.

Recently accredited for medical officer training with ACRRM and RACGP, Emerald Hospital is also helping shape the future of rural medicine. Our Child and Family Health team embraces a family-centred philosophy, building trusted partnerships with families through clinics, home visiting, outreach services and parent groups. With a strong focus on health promotion, prevention and early intervention, we're here to support children, young people and families to grow, thrive, and feel supported every step of the way.

About the role:

Step into a role where leadership, purpose, and community impact come together every day. As the Clinical Nurse (Child and Family Health), you'll bring specialised nursing knowledge and advanced clinical skills to support children, young people and families through a strong primary health care approach. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll coordinate and deliver evidence-based care, champion best practice, and help drive quality outcomes across Central Queensland Health facilities.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership position where you'll guide and support Registered and Enrolled Nurses, provide direction to the wider team, and step up as a key leader when the Nurse Unit Manager is away. With autonomy, critical thinking, and a strong focus on safety, communication and collaboration, this role is perfect for a passionate nurse ready to lead with confidence and make a genuine difference where it matters most.

About you:

  • You're a passionate and motivated Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and a valid annual practising certificate, ready to make a real impact in Child and Family Health.
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Child and Youth Health and current experience in Child and Family Health Practice are highly desirable.
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Midwifery and an endorsement with AHPRA is highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $139,252 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits:

  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Discounted Private Health Insurance
  • Fitness Passport

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.

How to apply:

  • Your current CV or resume, including referees.
  • A cover letter (1-2 pages) addressing how your experience, skills and values align with the key responsibilities and expectations outlined in the Role Description.
