About the role
Permanent full-time opportunity to support dietitians and food services staff in optimising patient nutrition through assisting with menu selection, monitoring food and fluid intake, providing basic dietary information, overseeing meal accuracy and distribution, undertaking nutrition screening, and contributing to quality improvement activities across inpatient and outpatient settings in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Develop a competent ability to follow procedures and undertake routine tasks such as collecting menu choices from patients/carers while guiding appropriate selections that are safe and optimise their nutritional intake while in hospital, overseeing accuracy and distribution of meals, delivery of mid-meals, monitoring patient's food and fluid intake as well as conducting nutrition screening of patients on the wards.
- Work cooperatively and effectively within a team environment, as well as with patients/clients, including providing basic dietary information.
- Ensure appropriate nutrition support is provided to patients by liaising with nursing, dietitians and other allied health staff as well as food service staff on patient matters relating to diet requirements and changes to diets.
- Possess appropriate computer skills for data entry into the electronic Patient Meal management system and for use of ieMR for documentation of clinical care.
