About us:

The Patient Safety Team leads best-practice clinical incident management across Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service. We manage SAC1 incidents, oversee death reviews, and provide expert guidance to senior leaders. Our team is committed to the Patient Safety Net program and Open Disclosure processes, ensuring transparency and continuous enhancement of care. We are a team that values community partnerships and works tirelessly to ensure Central Queenslanders have access to safe, person-centred care in every facility we serve.

About the role:

  • Provide expert guidance and support to clinical teams in incident management using recognized quality improvement methodologies like PDSA cycles.
  • Coordinate and initiate clinical incident reviews, ensuring the development and implementation of sustainable improvement recommendations.
  • Analyse clinical incident trends and data to identify risks and opportunities for organization-wide service improvements.
  • Prepare high-quality governance reports, briefs, and performance metrics to support executive decision-making.
  • Deliver comprehensive education and training programs to build staff capability in patient safety and incident management.

About you:

  • You are appointable as a Registered Nurse, Allied Health Practitioner or Administration Officer - with experience and qualifications/registration to support (where necessary).
  • You demonstrate comprehensive clinical knowledge and a strong understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
  • You possess high-level problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on evidence-based practice and quality improvement frameworks.
  • You are an effective communicator who can build strong, collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders.
  • You demonstrate professional leadership by role-modelling standards of integrity and excellence in a busy, high-pressure environment.

What we offer:

Total remuneration, varying by stream, is as follows (includes 12.75% super and 17.5% leave loading):

  • Admin: Up to $134,984 p.a. with an hourly rate between $54.83 - $59.66 p.h.
  • Health Practitioner: Up to $132,567 p.a. with an hourly rate between $43.68 - $58.59 p.h.
  • Nurse: Up to $127,861 p.a. with an hourly rate between $44.06 - $56.51 p.h.
