HORTICULTURE TEACHERS - TAFE QUEENSLAND GOLD COAST

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outcome-focused vocational education and training (VET) programs aligned with national training package requirements
  • Lead effective teaching and learning across classroom, workplace, simulated and online environments
  • Design, develop and implement industry-aligned assessment tools and practices
  • Use flexible, blended and inclusive learning approaches to support diverse student cohorts
  • Maintain currency with industry practices, teaching methodologies and educational technologies
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback and support learning outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance activities
  • Promote safe work practices, sustainability and positive learning environments
  • Build effective relationships with students, staff, industry and stakeholders

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  1. Strong knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses
  2. Capability to deliver engaging, industry-relevant and technology-enhanced learning
  3. Effective communication, teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills
  4. Commitment to continuous professional development and industry currency
  5. An inclusive, student-centred approach with sound knowledge of safe and equitable work practices

Mandatory Qualifications / Requirements

a) Vocational Qualifications: Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed

  • Certificate III in Horticulture (AHC30722 or equivalent/higher); or
  • Certificate III in Landscape Construction (AHC30921 or equivalent/higher); or
  • Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (AHC31424 or equivalent/higher)

b) Training and Assessment Qualification (one of the following):

  •  TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE50111 / TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (or successor); or
  • TAE50211 / TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development (or successor); or
  • A higher-level qualification in adult education approved by TAFE Queensland

c) Current industry skills directly relevant to horticulture training

d) Current knowledge of vocational training and assessment practices

e) Ongoing professional development in competency-based training and assessment

Note: Evidence of qualifications and industry currency will be required at interview.
