Role details
The Strategy and Governance team at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Program Manager (Internal Audit) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Program Manager, Internal Audit will provide leadership, management and provide independent advice to the Mackay Hospital and Health Board (MHHB) and senior management, on the MHHS internal audit assurance and consulting function through examining the adequacy and effectiveness of its systems of internal control, audit, risk management and providing strategic business partnering with MHHS Executive on business process improvements. This includes the achievement of:
- Planning, co-ordination, management, monitoring and evaluation of the conduct of all internal audits of the MHHS.
- Designing, leading and delivering a value-adding internal audit program that contributes to improvements, innovations and better internal controls.
- Provision to the MHHB Audit and Risk Committee, Health Service Chief Executive and senior management of solid professional audit advice and recommendations on risks and controls which will form the basis for improved monitoring, development and delivery of services across the MHHS.
- Promotion of the value of internal audit through provision of helpful and practical advice, support and guidance to managers and staff at all levels to improve the design and operation of processes, the control environment and implementation of new opportunities.
- Supporting the organisation achieve its strategic objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve organisational effectiveness by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight across the internal and external audit landscape.
About the Team
The Internal Audit function is based within the Strategy and Governance portfolio which comprises of various functions, including strategy, integrated planning, organisational service agreement strategy and management, organisational performance and reporting, board governance, risk and compliance, internal audit, legal, consumer and community engagement, media and communications and emergency and disaster management for the MHHS.
