Your new role:

As a Senior Psychologist, you will deliver advanced clinical services and provide professional leadership within a multidisciplinary team focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.  You will:

  • Provide high-quality, culturally appropriate psychological assessments, counselling, and group interventions for clients with or at risk of chronic disease
  • Manage complex clinical cases autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model
  • Lead and support service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research activities
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and professional guidance to less experienced psychologists

This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. About you:

You are a highly skilled and culturally capable psychologist with a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You have:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in managing complex psychological presentations, ideally within chronic disease and community settings
  • Strong ability to deliver culturally safe, client-centred care and engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities
  • Proven leadership capability, including supervision, mentoring, and driving service improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide expert clinical advice and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

Unit Profile

The Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care is a Queensland Health service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Located in lnala, 18 km Southwest of Brisbane CBD, our clinic is staffed by GPs, nurses, allied health, and Aboriginal health workers, and visiting medical specialists. We also provide health-related services at a community level, and our research team is dedicated to finding and publishing evidence about how to improve the health of our patients.
