What you'll do

As a Medical Intern, you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care as an integral member of a multidisciplinary clinical team, upholding the highest professional and ethical standards. You will provide timely and effective clinical services, supporting a broad range of clinical management activities including investigations, procedures, referrals, discharges, medico‑legal documentation and appropriate follow‑up of patients. You will build strong professional relationships through clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, carers and health professionals, ensuring safe and effective transfer of care. Long term Employment

  • To support continuity and workforce stability, Queensland Health offers medical interns the opportunity for longer-term employment arrangements. Most facilities offer a two-year engagement, comprising a 12-month appointment as a medical intern followed by a 12-month appointment as a Junior House Officer (JHO). Progression to JHO is conditional upon obtaining general registration as a medical practitioner at the completion of the first 12-month intern appointment.
