About us:

The Cancer Inpatient Unit is a 11-bed inpatient unit for Cancer Care Services. Cancer Care Services encompass:

  • Medical Oncology
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Haematology
  • Specialist Palliative Care

About the role:

  • Provide advanced, evidence-based nursing care to patients with oncology and specialist palliative care needs, including comprehensive assessment and management of complex symptoms such as pain, dyspnoea, nausea, fatigue, and terminal agitation.
  • Recognise and respond to clinical deterioration, escalating concerns promptly to the Registered Nurse and/or medical team to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including oncology services, specialist palliative care teams, allied health professionals, and community services, to support coordinated and holistic care delivery.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff, including adherence to workplace health and safety requirements and safe handling of medications and, where applicable, cytotoxic agents.

About you:

  • Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is mandatory for this position.
  • Cancer care experience desirable, but not essential.
  • Demonstrates advanced, evidence-based clinical knowledge and skills in specialist palliative care and oncology nursing, including symptom management (pain, dyspnoea, nausea, and end-of-life care).
  • Works collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including palliative care specialists, oncology teams, allied health, and community services.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $73,312 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $41.44 - $43.98 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
