As a Medical Scientist – Continuous Shift with Pathology Queensland in Townsville, you will perform a broad range of diagnostic analyses across Transfusion Medicine, Haematology, Chemical Pathology and selected areas of Microbiology. Working across a continuous shift roster, you will play a critical role in delivering timely, accurate results—particularly during out-of-hours periods when your skills and judgement are essential. In this role, you will take responsibility for the full scope of laboratory services outside standard operating hours, requiring a high level of autonomy, technical proficiency and decision-making capability. Your ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality and compliance standards will be key to your success.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a large multi-disciplinary laboratory throughout all hours with minimal or no supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
