About the opportunity   

The role of the Clinical Nurse is to provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the Ingham Health Service to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

Role requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
    • Extensive experience in Emergency Department and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
  • On-call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle. Verification of license must be provided prior to commencement of duty.
  • Applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, e.g., Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
  • Provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
  • Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

  • Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 p.h. (NG6-1)
