The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Sonographers – Advanced to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. 

You will

  • Perform independent real time ultrasound examinations with an emphasis on pathology recognition
  • Undertake examinations using high-level independent professional judgement and established clinical protocols
  • Apply expertise to assist in the resolution of large-scale and complex clinical service or work-flow problems
  • Provide training, instruction and equipment necessary for others to undertake their role safely 

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in Medical Ultrasound from a registered tertiary institution
  • Have, or be able to obtain, a Use Licence issued by Radiation Health, Queensland
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time, Permanent part time, Temporary full time or Temporary part time (several positions, hours negotiable up to 76 hours p.f.)
  • Base salary ranging from $144 991 - $151 289 per annum, $5 557.50 - $5 798.90 per fortnight or $73.12 - $73.30 per hour

About Us

The Medical Imaging Service delivers a wide range of diagnostic imaging and interventional services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. The service provides a Level 6 Medical Imaging service at Southport (Gold Coast University Hospital) and a Level 4 service at Robina Hospital. The Queensland Health Clinical Services Capability Framework (version 3) describes these services as:

  • A Level 6 service at Southport provides a wide range of imaging services and complex, on-site interventional and neuro-interventional procedures, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services on-site.
  • A Level 4 service at Robina provides fixed-room fluoroscopy, on-site CT services, MRI, complex ultrasound, interventional radiology Tier A, and mammography and interventional breast imaging services.
