About the opportunity
Provide high quality clinical care to patients of the Vascular department at The Townsville Hospital, supervision of junior medical staff including inpatient care and will include some responsibility for providing teaching to junior medical staff, medical students and allied health staff.
The Unit is currently staffed by 2 staff Specialists and a part-time Academic vascular specialist, 3 full-time registrars, this post and 2 RMOs. The unit has established open and endovascular lists and currently undertakes over 700 procedures each year. Common procedures including lower limb revascularisation by endovascular, open and combined procedures; endovascular aneurysm repair; carotid endarterectomy; open aortic surgery; AV fistula creation and maintenance; other vascular access procedures for oncology and renal purposes; venous surgery; and diabetic foot procedures.
Open operating lists; regular out-patient sessions; an established vascular in-patient ward and access to ICU; a vascular laboratory with resident sonographers and established duplex imaging; easy access to a radiology department with CT and MRI imaging; out-reach services to Mackay.
Please note: This is a temporary full-time position, ASAP - 31/01/2027.
Role requirements
- Degree Qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution and hold Current Registration as a medical practitioner or eligible for Current Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Accepted into recognised vocational college training program relevant to the speciality.
- If appointee is not accepted into a recognized vocational college training program – employment will only be as a Principal House Officer and remuneration will be at PHO Level per fortnight (L4-L7).

- Salary range: $5130.40 - $5931.50 p.f. (L4-L9)
- 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading
