The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Health Worker – Advanced (Identified - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander - Mental Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia

You will

  • Deliver a range of evidence-based interventions in a culturally safe, clinically competent, professional, and effective manner
  • Utilise your lived experience and knowledge of family kinship, culture, practices, and protocols to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers with a culturally informed approach
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to less experienced staff, demonstrating initiative in relation to service delivery

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Appointment and future increment progression between pay points HWF3.1 to HWF3.5 requires

        - Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work

  • Appointment and future increment progression between pay points HWF3.2 to HWF3.7, or HWF3.8 (limited to employees who meet the requirements of HED 04/23) requires: - Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Diploma of Mental Health or Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Drivers Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time (up to 11.12.2026, with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $2 964.50 - $4 076.70 per fortnight

The Community Mental Health Continuing Care Team provide assessment, case management and treatment for 18–65-year-olds who live with an enduring mental health condition within the Gold Coast Area. Case Managers work with consumers, carers, and health providers to coordinate a holistic treatment plan aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and environments for individuals, families and communities.
