About us:
The Community Child Youth and Family Health (CYFH) team provides culturally appropriate universal and targeted services to families within the Cairns urban area. These services are delivered in partnership by a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, social workers, psychologists, speech pathologist, indigenous health workers and administration officers. Programs include maternal and infant health, child health, youth health and parental support.
The outer western region of our service includes extremely remote communities. Cairns Hospital is the only major referral hospital in Far North Queensland and also provides care for people from Cape York and the Torres Strait.

About your opportunity:
- Work within the School Based Youth Health Nurse Program framework by practicing in accordance with the Program principles and guidelines including the Queensland Health and Education Queensland School Based Youth Health Nurse Program Memorandum of Understanding and Program Management Guidelines.
- Provide an opportunity for young people in secondary school to access health information, advice, support, brief intervention, and referral through confidential individual health consultations.
- Effectively communicate at all levels across the organisation to promote effective team functioning. Support schools to use a whole of school approach to health promotion (Health Promoting Schools framework) to encourage a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the planning and implementation of school policies, programs, activities and environments.
