What your day could look like

As a Principal House Officer/Registrar – Home in the Hospital, you'll help deliver hospital‑level care where patients recover best—their own homes. Working across community and acute settings, you'll connect people, plans and services to ensure safe, high‑quality care and smooth transitions.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Providing timely assessment and treatment that supports recovery at home
  • Working closely with senior clinicians, nurses and GPs to coordinate care and discharge
  • Supporting junior staff while contributing to a culture of learning and safety
  • Using resources wisely and improving care through quality and governance practices

Let's talk about you!

You're a thoughtful clinician who combines strong judgement with empathy and professionalism. You take pride in doing the right thing for patients, even in complex situations, and value teamwork, learning and continuous improvement. Helping people stay well at home motivates you, because you see the dignity and impact it brings to care.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • A medical degree with current or eligible registration in Australia
  • Broad clinical skills, including clear documentation and safe decision‑making
  • A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and respectful practice

You'll shine if you bring experience in hospital‑in‑the‑home, mental health, or regional settings.

Above all, you'll live the values that guide Darling Downs Health—compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage—delivering care that truly makes a difference.
