About us: The Cancer Care & Haematology Ward at Cairns Hospital provides specialised tertiary inpatient care. Cancer care ward consist of 20 oncology Haematology beds and 12 General medical beds.
Cancer care ward provides comprehensive multi-disciplinary care and management of complex treatments from diagnosis. This includes oncological emergencies, treatment related side effects, infusion related reactions, transfusion support, education, diagnostic procedures, and treatment procedures.
Our emphasis is on caring for people across their entire journey to wellness or provision of comprehensive and respectful palliative care services to patients at the end stage of their disease process. Our general medical beds provide acute medical inpatient care to a diverse and complex cohort group. We operate through a multidisciplinary model.
About your role:
- Evaluating and implementing patient care, including delirium management.
- Direct patient cares including ADLs.
- Recognise and respond to deterioration in a patient's condition.
- Phlebotomy/Cannulation.
- Complex medications administration.
- Patient education.
