Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $87.92 to $94.84 p.h. (HSO.01 - HSO.03)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
  • Flexible working arrangements may be available in the role

About your opportunity

The primary role of the Chairperson is to direct the functions of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) including chairing the monthly meetings, reviewing multidisciplinary research study documentation and advising on ethical matters concerned with research of critical clinical importance across diverse population groups and/or services.

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Townsville HHS values the enhanced knowledge, skills and work performance which can result from tertiary education. Whilst not mandatory, relevant qualifications together with an extensive background in the following areas would be desirable:
    • Ethics, law, human research ethics, research,
    • Experience in chairing human research ethics and/or nationally accredited committee/s,
    • Strong understanding of the clinical environment, with experience in complex interdependent systems, 
    • Familiarity with the regulation of health information privacy in Australia and Queensland.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
