Your new role:
As the Nurse Unit Manager for Ward 2Q, you will provide advanced clinical and operational leadership within a newly established 26-bed unit dedicated to supporting patients with complex discharge needs and improving patient flow across the service. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, person-centred and evidence-based care by:
- Leading and coordinating daily clinical and operational activities within Ward 2Q
- Driving best practice patient-centred care and positive patient outcomes
- Managing human, financial and material resources effectively
- Supporting multidisciplinary discharge planning and resolving barriers to safe discharge
- Leading quality improvement, service innovation and risk management initiatives
- Fostering a positive team culture focused on collaboration, education and continuous improvement
- Supporting workforce development, succession planning and staff capability building
- Ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and organisational policies
About you:
You are a confident and compassionate nursing leader with advanced clinical knowledge, strong operational management capability and a passion for delivering exceptional patient-centred care. You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated experience leading nursing and multidisciplinary teams in a complex healthcare environment
- Strong knowledge of contemporary nursing practice, clinical governance and quality improvement
- Experience in operational leadership including workforce, financial and resource management
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead change, drive innovation and support service improvement initiatives
- Experience managing patient flow, discharge planning or complex care coordination processes
- Commitment to education, mentoring and building high-performing nursing teams
- A collaborative leadership style focused on safety, accountability and positive patient outcomes
