An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Cardiologist - Imaging Specialist) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
About the role
Provide clinical specialist Cardiologist support to the Cardiology service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient centered clinical practice.
Work within the Cardiology team to deliver comprehensive imaging services and the Cardiac Rapid Access Service, with a focus on interpreting stress and dobutamine stress echocardiography. Duties also include general cardiology outpatient care, transoesophageal echocardiogram (TOE) procedures, stress echo lists, on call cardiology services, and teaching across Robina Hospital and the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH). Provide high quality clinical care, lead day to day multidisciplinary patient management, and offer professional leadership within Cardiology and Specialist Medical Services, contributing to the training and supervision of junior medical staff and other health professionals.
Requirements for the role
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
- Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registrable as a Cardiology specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Competency and recognised training in Cardiology including successful completion of an Advanced Fellowship in multi-modality imaging in a reputable centre of excellence.
- Completion of specialist cardiology training, including an Advanced Clinical Fellowship in echocardiography at a recognised institution, with proven experience and expertise in basic and advanced echocardiographic modalities (including stress, transoesophageal and 3D echocardiography).
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Cardiology Service.
Salary information
- Temporary part time (36 hours per fortnight, 6 to 12 month contract)
- Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $124.13 - $131.61 p.h
- Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $103.80 - $120.57 p.h
- Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
