The Rural Medical Superintendent at Boonah hospital provides leadership, guidance and support for medical staff and clinical governance in collaboration with the Director of Nursing/Facility Manager and the Clinical Director Rural and Community Services.

Acting as the authority on medical services at Boonah hospital you will provide strategic and professional leadership and governance for the medical workforce.

Permanent part time role – 20 hours per fortnight.

Remuneration information provided is the annual base salary (80 hours/fortnight)

What we're looking for

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Clinical expertise with appropriate knowledge, skills and experience to support a quality rural generalist medical team with clinical credentials suitable for scope of clinical practice in Rural Generalist Medicine.
  • Proven track record in leading effective teams to achieve organisational outcomes, preferably with credentials or working towards credentials in medical management and leadership.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, with willingness to create a culture of multidisciplinary collaborative high quality care for our rural communities.
  • Proven track record in delivering quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively nurture an environment of growth and individual development through education and support for staff and students. Demonstrated personal commitment to continuing medical education.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Current registration with or eligible for registration as a specialist medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
  • This position requires candidates to be eligible for Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) in Rural Generalist Medicine and agree to undertake to maintain currency of this SoCP during the contract of employment.
