About us: 

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.

The pharmacy department at Atherton Hospital provide pharmacy services to Atherton Hospital, Herberton Hospital and 7 Rural and Remote clinics including, Malanda, Millaa Millaa, Mt Garnet, Ravenshoe, Forsayth, Croydon and Georgetown. Current pharmacy services provided include outpatient pharmacy services, clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas and an extensive imprest service.

Atherton Hospital services include emergency, general medical, surgical, low-risk maternity, cancer care, and renal dialysis services. Atherton Hospital has 56 inpatient beds, 10 emergency department treatment spaces, 5 HDU beds, 8 chemotherapy chairs, 8 dialysis chairs and 5 maternity beds as well as diagnostic support services such as medical imaging, pharmacy, and pathology.

About your role:
  • Deliver clinical pharmacy services in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
  • Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of pharmacy services within the local service area.
