About the role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialised inpatient‑level occupational therapy services in community‑based settings. Working with individuals experiencing acute and complex mental health presentations, you will apply advanced clinical knowledge to support recovery, functional change and safe transitions from hospital care.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver high-level evidence-based occupational therapy services as a member of a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, including provision of functional, sensory and cognitive assessments to assist with problem and diagnostic clarification, occupational formulation, and discharge planning, including recommendations for intervention.
- Plan, implement and evaluate occupational-focussed short-term individual and/or group interventions, aligned with consumer needs within a recovery and trauma-informed framework.
- Provide high-level occupational therapy advice and education to the multidisciplinary team, operational supervisors and key stakeholders regarding professional standards and clinical service development to facilitate optimal consumer care and outcomes.
- Provide clinical leadership and participate in the identification, development, implementation and evaluations of quality, service improvement and/or research activities that enhance and improve consumer care and contribute to the development of an innovative Mental Health Service.
- Provide clinical practice supervision and education to undergraduate and postgraduate occupational therapy students, HP3 Occupational Therapists, Clinical Assistants, Allied Health Cadets and clinical support staff to ensure maintenance of professional clinical standards within the service.
