The Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) delivers on the strategic communications priorities of Queensland Health. SCB provides strategic communications advice and manages all communications outputs for the Department of Health and acts as system leader in supporting communication activities delivered by Hospital and Health Services.

The Senior Market Research Advisor is a member of the Strategy, Research and Evaluation team within SCB.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Actively participate as a senior member of a team of market research professionals to develop and deliver projects that enhance health outcomes for Queensland health system consumers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior management across Queensland Health, including HHSs, other Queensland Government agencies and key stakeholders across the health sector.
  • Deliver social market research projects to understand health topics and the behaviours, attitudes and motivators of an audience to inform the development and evaluation of strategies and communications activities.
  • Manage external suppliers in the delivery of market research ensuring appropriate return on investment for Queensland Health.
  • Plan and execute primary and secondary research activities such as surveys, competitor analysis, consumer profiling or segmentation and behaviour analysis to help improve health outcomes for Queenslanders.

Role fit:

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience managing and delivering complex social market research projects within agreed budgets and timeframes, ensuring outputs align with strategic priorities. You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. A solid understanding of contemporary social research practices, behaviour change theory, and the ability to translate data into actionable behaviour change insights is essential. The role also requires strong project management capability to balance competing priorities, alongside advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, including experience with research design, data collection, and analysis tools such as SPSS or Q.
