About the role
As a Senior Optometrist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering specialised eye care within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. Working closely with the Ophthalmology team, you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, applying advanced clinical expertise to support optimal patient outcomes across outpatient and surgical pathways.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver high level Optometry clinical services and providing a range of ophthalmic diagnostic testing in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with minimal direct clinical supervision.
- This position requires high level knowledge of complex conditions, patterns of pathology and use of validated evidence-based management principles, coupled with high level experience in a range of caseloads.
- Provide timely, high level clinical advice to a range of health professionals, supervisors, managers and stakeholders, both internal and external to the HHS, regarding Optometry management and service delivery in various clinical areas, including prioritisation and changes in clinical practice, equipment and technological advances.
- Undertake high level and non-routine duties including provision of clinical advice to other multidisciplinary team members.
- Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within specialist clinical service areas, and advocate for service improvements that enhance the delivery of Optometry and Ophthalmology services across STARS and wider MNHHS, utilising identification and application of guidelines and business improvement plans.
