About us:

Moura is a rural town located in Central Queensland's Dawson Valley, located approximately 180 kilometres south‑west of Rockhampton and 65 kilometres west of Biloela, within the Banana Shire. The town sits along the Dawson Highway and services a broad agricultural and resource‑based region, acting as a key hub for surrounding rural communities. Moura is often referred to as the “Heart of the Dawson Valley”, reflecting its central role in supporting industry, families, and community life.

The Moura Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) is a modern, purpose‑built facility that opened in 2015, delivering contemporary healthcare services tailored to the needs of the local community. The facility has two emergency treatment beds, four acute beds, one aged care bed and three consult rooms.

About the role:

The Medical Officer Private Practice will work with the Medical Superintendent Private Practice (MSPP) to provide safe, efficient quality medical services to inpatients and outpatients of the Moura MPHS including the provision of 24-hour emergency department coverage.

This position can undertake Private Practice at a surgery run by the MSPP located in Minogue Street, Moura. An opportunity exists to maintain their skills at the Moura MPHS and by arrangement with Gladstone Hospital. It is intended the Medical Officer Private Practice will maximise their professional development as part of this appointment.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia is mandatory for this position.
  • Enrolment/acceptance into a Specialist General Practice training program that will facilitate a provider number with access to Medicare benefits for the private practice.
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certification, and enrolment and maintenance of ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) program of appropriate College.
  • Candidates with emergency experience and eligibility for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) are encouraged to apply to work towards fellowship.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $320,003 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $187,569 - $199,273 p.a. (MOR1-1 – MOR1-3)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
