About the Team
Jacaranda Place – Queensland Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre (QAETC) is a purpose built 12 bed state-wide extended treatment inpatient unit and co-located day program, governed and operated by CHQ on the grounds of The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. Jacaranda Place delivers safe and responsive mental health care that effectively supports and enhances the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged between 13-18 years of age, with consideration of extending to 21 years of age, based on a young person's developmental age.
Jacaranda Place delivers mental health care integrated with educational and vocational training to young people in a safe and therapeutic setting by a multidisciplinary team, providing diagnostic assessment, and individualised, family and group evidence-informed clinical interventions and therapies. Jacaranda Place has integrated onsite schooling provided by the Department of Education, to support the educational and vocational needs of both the inpatient and day program young people.

Day Programs provide medium term, intensive mental health treatment and educational support to young people with complex, chronic mental health difficulties which are severely impacting on their functioning. Jacaranda Place Day Program is located in Chermside and supports adolescents and families in the North of Brisbane. Day Program South is located at the Queensland Children's Hospital and supports adolescents and families from the South of Brisbane and primary school age children from the whole of the CHQ catchment. Both services provide an intensive mental health and education program offering multidisciplinary intervention, individual, group, and family therapy. Young people may attend Monday through to Friday to receive specialised care that is based on clinical and educational needs.
