About the Role

The position of Paediatric Registrar (in the role of Paediatric Advanced Trainee Fellow) will:

  • Encompass a broad array of endocrine disorders of infants, children, and adolescents. The intent of the Paediatric Endocrinology Fellowship is to train high calibre applicants in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of endocrine disorders in order, to provide comprehensive, compassionate care for infants, children, and adolescents. Trainees will be expected to complete Paediatric Endocrinology Training including enrolment in a Masters or PhD, and will be strongly encouraged to gain additional experience in a tertiary Paediatric Endocrinology Centre in Australasia or abroad. The offer of an additional 12 months in the role is possible but cannot be guaranteed, as appointment for all Queensland Health positions is via a competitive, merit-based application process.
  • Train well-rounded, empathetic Paediatric Endocrinologists to develop skills in communication and counselling with patients and families.
  • Deliver medical services through participation in clinical duties at Fellow level and in accordance with the policies, practices and Values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
  • Demonstrate commitment to evidence-based practice, teaching, research and quality improvement activities, including undertaking clinical audits and clinical risk management activities with associated publications.
  • Impart a sense of responsibility to act as advocates for the health of children and families within our society.
  • Teach professionalism by mentorship, validating the critical roles of personal ethics, responsibility, respect, compassion, communication, and self-awareness.
  • Assist in the professional development of junior medical staff and the training of medical and allied health students.
