About the role

As the Mental Health Clinician, you will deliver high-level mental health screening and assessment services for individuals appearing before the Magistrates Court or detained in watch-houses. Your work will support early identification of mental illness and facilitate appropriate treatment pathways, referrals and diversion opportunities.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Undertake mental health assessments (including those people with complex psychosocial circumstances) in watch house and court settings by using a high degree of independent judgement and problem solving skills.
  • Apply professional judgement to complex cases, utilising evidence based clinical practice.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team; with police and justice personnel and with patients/clients.
  • Monitoring and reporting on clinical practices and outcomes within the Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service (QFMHS) and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities.
  • Collaborating in the initiation, development and provision of training to other mental health staff and provide professional education sessions to others within the service.
